Children get hurt for various reasons when they play, but trampolines can inflict more harm than one may think. While these jumpy things can be a fun activity for your kids, it also comes with great safety risk if proper care is not taken. Therefore, if you have a trampoline in your house, you must take a few steps to ensure its safety.

Not only can your kids get badly hurt on a trampoline, but you can also face liability lawsuits if your trampoline ends up hurting other people. If you are involved in a trampoline-related injury, Stewart Miller Simmons Trial Attorneys can help.

    Safety tips for trampoline

    Use pads and safety nets.

Make sure your trampoline has pads covering the frame, hooks, and springs. It is essential to buy pads in a contrasting color to the trampoline so that people can clearly see where it is safe to jump. Adding nets to your trampoline provides an additional sense of safety. However, they are still not enough to prevent accidents completely.

    Check the springs.

Keeping a regular check on the spring before jumping is vital to ensure they are securely attached to the trampoline. It is crucial to make sure there are no loose springs as they can cause a child to fall off the trampoline and hurt themselves. Missing springs can cause the jumping mat to tear, resulting in injuries.

    One jumper at a time.

It may seem boring to jump alone on the trampoline, and so your kid may want to jump together with two or more of their friends. However, statistics show that most trampoline accidents occur when more than one person jumps at once.

    Check the mat.

Holes and tears in the jumping mat can result in hard landings and give birth to serious injuries. Make sure to check the mat for holes and cover, and do not let kids jump on it before fixing it. Using duct tape may cover the holes, but they change how a trampoline responds.

    Supervise kids when they jump.

Never let your kids and their friends jump on your trampoline without keeping an eye on them. The absence of adult supervision allows more room for accidents.

    Clear off the trampoline.

Ensure the trampoline mat is clear and does not contain any toys, leaves, or sticks. If kids jump on these kids, they may trip on it and injure themselves. Make sure to also clear the area around the trampoline to clear off branches and other things.

If your loved one has been injured on another person’s trampoline, you may be able to hold the owner accountable for maintaining safety on their property. Contact an attorney today to file a claim and recover compensation.
