Lucia Bueso is an artist from Guatemala, set to bring her art to the United States. She was featured in BADA, one of the largest Art fairs of Latin America, hosting artists such as Elisa Salas, Luigi Fantini, Diego de Erice, Rajae Qarrou. After years exposing her work in the most prominent venues of Guatemala, such as Rendez Vous [AM1] and making a name for herself in the Latin American art scene, she hopes to share her perspective to broader audiences[AM2] .
In Lucia’s personal view of abstract art, it evokes layers of emotions and serves as a mirror to one’s thoughts and personality. In her own words: “I want to convey feelings of peace, joy, and positive energy,” Her compositions are dynamic in movement and structure, blending elements of native Guatemalan textures with the modern spontaneity of her own approach. With the plans of expansion already in motion, we were fortunate to have a conversation with her about what to expect of this venture.
When asked about her plans of coming to the US, Lucia explains: “The plan to bring my art to the US has always been one of my main goals as an artist. I plan to attend Art fairs and start an online business to connect with a wider audience in order to establish myself in the most dynamic arts market in the world arts market in the world, I need to make my presence known showcasing my work to collectors, curators, interior designers and art enthusiasts who share my vision.”
With her own gallery already in place, she plans to participate in major art fairs and hold expositions across the country. In hopes to push her artistic skills to new heights, Lucia believes that being in contact with different styles of the highly diverse US art scene may offer important opportunities for growth. Aside from that, the American market provides an unparalleled level of exposure to her pieces. However, this exposure comes with its fair share of barriers. Thriving in one of the most competitive markets in the world is no simple task, but one that Lucia is not afraid to tackle. “It is overwhelming to stare at such an opportunity, but when you look at it with a calm mind you can see that it is no different than any market, focusing on authenticity and building strong relationships will take your work where it deserves to go.”
Lucia’s work reflects a balance between structure and spontaneity, chaos and order- concepts that speaks to the universal human experience. Lucia adds: “I hope my pieces provide a sense of peace, hope and inspiration, fostering deeper connections in a fast-paced world”. Experiencing Lucia’s artwork has brough only delight, it acts as a deep breath, a pallet cleanser to an eyesight exhausted of looking at screens. The job of the artist is to create moments that make you slow down and appreciate, without pressure, simply letting your mind rest. With that concept in mind, Lucia is ready to create a space of joy and positivity right in the center one of the most demanding markets in the world, challenging modern American consumers to calm their thoughts and hopefully find the same joy Lucia found when working on each of her pieces.
