Long gone are the days where the only technology we needed were a smoke alarm, a television, and an answering machine. With how society has evolved over the years thanks to the innovation of technology. These days, our homes have become much more convenient and comfortable because of the implementation of technology. In this article, we’ll be going over household technology that every household needs.

    Smart Thermostat

One of the most important and beneficial home technologies any homeowner can have is a smart thermostat. A smart thermostat is similar to a regular one, except it’s connected to your Wi-Fi. Through this connection, you can remotely operate your thermostat without so much as touching it. You can even leave the house and make sure it’s turned off via an app on your phone, tablet or laptop. In addition, smart thermostats are designed to help decrease your utility bills, have a better grasp on energy consumption and they’re very easy to use.

    Home Elevator

A home elevator is one of the most useful pieces of home technology you’ll ever have. For one thing, you have a much safer way of ascending the upper levels of your house. In fact, one of the reasons why home elevators are purchased is for this very reason, especially among elderly and disabled people. Climbing up the stairs is not only stressful, but also a potential hazard. Slip and falls can happen at any given moment and this is most common with elderly people who have slower reflexes.

Installing a home elevator, however, isn’t as easy as it seems. You can see here what a home elevator costs. The cost does depend on the brand and who’s installing it. Furthermore, you might have to pay even more should you not enough space for the elevator. Adding space to a house can be somewhere between $80 to as much as $210 per square foot. Though the price is high, you’d be amazed at how much it can boost the property value of your home if you ever go to sell, however, it makes staying and aging in place in your own home more appealing with this upgrade.

    Robot Vacuum Cleaners

Robot vacuum cleaners used to be something that were in science fiction stories. These days, however, they’re the real deal. Technology has evolved so much to the point that robot vacuum cleaners, like the Roomba, can vacuum your house by itself while you tackle other responsibilities. Vacuuming the house on your own can take up a lot of time you can spend doing something more important. Robot vacuum cleaners can cost up $1000 depending on the model, but it’s worth the investment.

    Smart Appliances

Thermostats aren’t the only piece of technology that’s gotten the smart treatment. Other household appliances, like refrigerators, ovens, dishwashers, laundry machines and even a fingerprint smart door lock also have smart variants. Just like the smart thermostat, you can control each of them remotely thanks to the ability of connecting them to your Wi-Fi. Smart appliances use significantly less power, but they still get the job done.
