A viral dispute between New York Diamond District jewelers TraxNYC and Akay Diamonds has become one of the most discussed jewelry-industry stories of early 2026, after allegations of customer deception escalated into a filmed confrontation, police response, and arrests.

The TraxNYC controversy centers on claims made by TraxNYC owner Maksud Agadjani, who accused Akay Diamonds of using the TraxNYC name during a sale and misrepresenting the quality of a bracelet. The claims remain allegations, but the physical altercation and subsequent arrests have been confirmed in multiple reports.

    TraxNYC: Who is involved?

TraxNYC is a Manhattan-based jewelry brand known for its large social media presence and celebrity-style custom pieces. Agadjani, often referred to online as “Trax,” frequently posts videos explaining jewelry pricing, sourcing, and Diamond District business practices.

Akay Diamonds is another Diamond District business associated with George Akay and Freddy Akay. According to reports, both businesses operate in the same West 47th Street jewelry hub, where competition among retailers is intense.

    How the dispute started

The TraxNYC Akay Diamonds controversy began when Agadjani alleged that a customer purchased a diamond bracelet from Akay Diamonds after being led to believe the item was connected to TraxNYC. He further claimed the bracelet was sold as 14-karat gold but later tested as lower-purity gold, with reports citing claims of 10-karat gold.

Agadjani said he refunded the customer, with National Jeweler reporting that he claimed to have paid back the $22,000 purchase price. The fraud and misrepresentation claims have not been proven in court, and they should be treated as allegations unless confirmed by official findings.

    TraxNYC: Timeline of key events

    • January 1, 2026: Agadjani began posting allegations on Instagram, accusing Akay Diamonds of misusing the TraxNYC name and misrepresenting jewelry quality.
    • January 2, 2026: Agadjani went to the Akay Diamonds booth in Manhattan’s Diamond District, where videos showed a heated confrontation.
    • During the confrontation: Footage appeared to show shouting, crowd intervention, and a physical fight. Reports said one clip showed a man spitting at Agadjani before the altercation escalated.
    • After police responded: The NYPD confirmed that two jewelers were arrested after an assault report at 64 West 47th Street. George Akay and Freddy Akay were charged with assault, while another individual received a summons, according to National Jeweler.
    • Aftermath: Agadjani was transported to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition after sustaining minor injuries, according to a police statement cited by National Jeweler.

    What remains unconfirmed

The most important distinction in the latest TraxNYC news is between confirmed events and unresolved accusations. Police response, injuries, arrests, and assault charges have been reported. However, the underlying claims about alleged fraud, brand impersonation, gold purity, diamond quality, and customer deception have not been independently verified through a public court ruling.

Akay Diamonds had not publicly responded in some early reports, while Dexerto later noted that the business denied wrongdoing. Until more documentation emerges, the business-practice allegations remain contested.]

For now, the traxnyc controversy has drawn wider attention to trust, receipts, appraisals, and verification in the Diamond District. It also shows how quickly a local jewelry dispute can become national social media news when accusations, luxury purchases, and viral video collide.
