Last Epoch is facing a serious issue regarding a supposed gold dupe exploit in the game. Players have noticed that items in the Bazaar are being sold for outrageous amounts, with some Uniques selling for almost billions of gold. Many believe that the current issue has caused the in-game economy to collapse. Fortunately, it seems devs are on top of the situation and will initiate a ban wave against players who abused the Last Epoch Gold exploit.

Last Epoch Merchant’s Guild Facing a Crisis

Players noticed anomalies in the MG’s Bazaar when one or two LP (Legendary Potential) Unique Items would sell or cost billions of gold. While items selling at these amounts weren’t uncommon, it usually occurred for equipment with three or four Legendary Potential. Items with less LP selling for the same price or more are unheard of, and it was a clear sign that someone was duping gold.

Prices would inevitably go up as more and more players join in, which increases the demand for items. However, seeing that only select things go up significantly while other sets don’t indicate a problem within the game. While high demand and scarcity could be the reasons for specific prices, hacks and exploits became the most prominent causes for the absurd amount of money items sold.

It’s unclear how the gold dupe is being executed; many players have speculated on how the process works. Others surmised that some gamers are duping gold via hacks since the game uses unchecked maths and unreliable integers for gold value. Some believe glitches or bugs in-game allow players to duplicate gold as much as they want. One example was quickly stashing gold in the storage, logging out, and hoping you had activated the dupe.

However, many believe that the overpricing of specific items is due to other sets being duped to farm gold. It’s been discovered that over the weeks, players have been finding ways to duplicate specific high-demand wares. These dupes caused the prices for items to drop but allowed exploiters to farm gold and buy higher-rarity sets.

Ban Waves are Currently Taking Place

Following the sudden surge of glitches and exploits, many people started complaining about getting banned from the game without any explanation. This raised the question of whether the Eleventh Hour Games started to initiate ban waves. Users have taken their queries to Reddit and official forums to ask questions.

In one thread, EHG dev Mox confirmed the ban wave was done as a measure against people who abused exploits in the game. He further elaborated that they would make an official announcement by April 2. Mox stated they already have a post addressing the issue but didn’t want to release it too early. It is unclear how many Last Epoch accounts were affected.

In another thread, a recent patch was confirmed to address the issue of gold duping. It’s unclear how this update resolved or fixed the problem. However, Dev Mox confirmed they could hotfix and remove one specific gold duplication exploit. Likely, other bugs are still active in-game, but EHG seems to be on top of the situation.

    Players are Asking for Rollbacks

While EHG is staunching the bleeds caused by these gold exploits, the damage has already been done to the game’s economy, especially in the Merchant’s Guild faction. Many of the sought-after items in the Bazaar have already been bought off by cheaters or set to exorbitant prices. Players saving gold through normal means can no longer get their target items via the MG.

Due to the distorted economy and loss of valuable supplies, players have been asking for a rollback from developers so servers can recover from the damage caused by the exploits. Those motioning for this want the market to get a soft reset and items bought by cheaters to be returned in circulation. However, it is still being determined how effective a rollback would be if EHG decides to implement one.

Devs have been mum about this motion so far, so a rollback is less likely to happen. While reverting the servers to a previous date can remedy some of the damage done, it might cause distress to other players who aren’t part of the Merchant’s Guild. Members of the Circle of Fortune will have their progress reset if a rollback does occur, which is inconvenient for them, considering they are largely unaffected by the issue.
