Many websites or entrepreneurs have difficulty getting enough traffic to visit their sites. This might not be because they’re doing something wrong as google considers various factors in determining the search engine ranking.  In situations like this, they resort to alternative strategies to invite traffic to their sites.

In essence, Google is more concerned about what users find on your website and what they do on it than how much traffic your site generates. To determine if buying website traffic (also known in some cases as paid traffic) can help with SEO, we need to consider the important components and terms which are website traffic, paid traffic, and SEO.

    THE INTRICACIES OF WEBSITE TRAFFIC

You might be wondering if your low traffic or the lack thereof is destroying your chances of progressing up the search engine ranks. Website traffic is the portion of data sent and received by the visitors to a website. You can check how much website traffic you generate via your Google Analytics. Visitors to your website come from various platforms. You will notice that some of the traffic is from users from direct traffic. Conventionally, direct traffic is visits made to a site without a referring website. It is associated with users who manually type a website’s URL into their web browser or visit via a bookmarked link. According to the SEMrush report, direct website traffic is the most influential kind of traffic. This was after adding five new ranking factors to their report. However, earning only direct traffic is not going to fling your website to the first page of the search engine ranking. You need to have quality traffic. Quality traffic is visitors who are genuinely interested in what your website offers. Quality traffic is determined by some factors that show that your website addresses the user’s search needs. These factors include direct website visits, time spent on site, keywords in anchor, and body among others.

    What is Paid Traffic?

First, note that not all paid traffic is the same so it can be confusing to give them a generic, encompassing definition. Paid traffic is acquired via commercial means. Essentially, any customer that visits your site after you pay for ads promotion is paid traffic. Website banners, YouTube Ads, and Pays per click ads are types of Paid Traffic. But there is another kind of paid traffic. There are companies offering services where real humans search your website using a keyword query and then click on your website in the SERPs. Some paid traffic performs better than others since they all come from different modes of pay per click. Sending human clickers to search for your website using a keyword query can help with CTR. Other forms of pay per click can help with your overall marketing strategy. To buy website traffic, publishers expend money towards acquiring audiences who will regard their website content favorably now and in the future.

These days, social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and native advertising networks are popular sources of buying traffic with Facebook probably being the best place to connect with the audience and yield quality traffic.

    SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION (SEO)

If you are unable to find your website on the first few pages of search results, you are not alone. There are millions of people who find themselves in the pile of invisible content on the search engine ranking. Understanding how search engine optimization works gives you an edge over others in increasing your search ranking visibility.  SEO is the practice of improving the quality and quantity of organic traffic you generate on your website through several techniques and strategies.

Different factors affect search engine optimization. The aggregate amount of traffic you generate is crucial to where your website will appear in search results. This however does not fully affect your search engine ranking but the more prominent your site is, the better. With SEO, you can increase the quantity and quality of traffic you generate.

    FINAL VERDICT

Now, how does paid traffic affect search engine optimization? Is it worth buying traffic at all?

Traffic does play a huge role in the success of your website. Although buying website traffic can be viewed as unethical and ineffective by some people, this perception is a result of purchasing the wrong kind of traffic.  The wrong traffic could pose a huge business risk if done inappropriately. Buying the right website traffic could inadvertently help with your search engine optimization.
