Taking care of a pet is rewarding and enjoyable in its own right. Should you decide to bring home a pet fish and care for it in your Chuan Park condo, there are a few things you should do to make sure your fish lives a long life. Here are five tips to follow.

Remember to Change the Water Regularly

If the water is dirty or has lots of leftover particles, your pet fish could get sick since they are swimming in contaminated water. You need to clean the aquarium or fish bowl to discard unclean water which can carry diseases, and also scrub the sides of the glass or acrylic. Remember to change the water regularly, ideally every two to four weeks, and only about 10-25% depending on the tank size.

    Feed your Fish Regularly

Fish are live animals, so they need food to survive in your aquarium or bowl. People commonly feed their fishy friends some fish pellets that come from the pet shop or stores, but you can feed your fish with other foods such as vegetables like potatoes and lettuce, live food, and freeze-dried food like blood worms and earthworms, depending on the species. Avoid over-feeding your fish as it will be overweight and will be prone to potential diseases.

    Do Not Tap the Glass

Never tap an aquarium or fish bowl which contains fish. The noise from tapping the glass can actually damage or injure their ears. The sound pressure is four times higher underwater than in the air, therefore if you repeatedly tap the tank or bowl, it can be very deadly for your fishy companion.

    Choose the Right Tank Size

Choosing the right tank is difficult because you have to consider things like how big the fish is going to be and the water capacity. If possible, choose an aquarium that is very wide and big and can hold more than one fish. One way of determining the tank size is to use 1 gallon of water for each fish you buy, but it is not very accurate as your fish can vary in size and shape as well as your fish tank, so make sure to remember these guidelines when selecting an aquarium.

    Add Some Decoration

Your fish will love to explore the new home you have given and will very happily swim around the tank. Make sure to add decoration as that can keep your fish interested and stimulated and will look beautiful to anyone who is viewing the fish. However, do not add too many objects as your fish will have less space and will be overwhelmed, causing your fish to be stressed. Make sure all your decorations are safe and clean for your aquarium or tank, and surely you and your fish will be happy and satisfied.
