Businesses have a lot to worry about. Whether it’s generating revenue, staffing, issues, or anything else, it’s easier for those in charge to feel a bit overwhelmed at times. That said, successful companies have long believed that certain values should be upheld at all times.
For David Marom and The Horizon Group, this comes down to being an active part of the community. David Marom and The Horizon Group have always strived to be a part of their community, always looking for new opportunities to make an impact.
Why Successful Companies Should Be Part of The Community
A successful company needs to be a part of the community they are in for several reasons. By participating in community events and initiatives, a company can show that it is a responsible and caring member of the community, which can help to build trust and goodwill among the people who live and work there.
This can be especially important for companies that rely on local customers for their business. Since David Marom and The Horizon Group develop property in their local communities, it would be detrimental to the company to ignore the communities it is a part of.
By supporting local initiatives and organizations, a company can help create a stronger, more vibrant community, which can lead to a stronger economy. This can help generate more business for the company and provide a better environment for employees to live and work in.
Getting Involved in the Community
There are many ways that companies can get involved in their communities. Some examples include volunteering time and resources to local organizations and initiatives, supporting local charities and nonprofits, and participating in local events and activities.
Companies can also work with local governments and community groups to address issues and challenges facing the community and help develop solutions and initiatives that benefit the community.
Being a part of the community benefits both the company and the community itself. By taking an active role in the community, a company can improve its reputation, build trust and goodwill among its customers and employees, and help to create a stronger, more vibrant local economy.
Do People in the Community Notice When Businesses Make an Effort?
The answer to this is yes. People within the community notice which businesses are out there contributing positively. Since everyone is at a different stage in life, having a community is very important whether we realize it or not. It helps when raising a family, needing a helping hand, or feeling more connected with everyone else.
How David Marom and The Horizon Group Partners with Nonprofit Organizations
While individuals contribute to the community in different ways, one major effort made by David Marom was by developing Pawsability Dog Club. Pawsability is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dog daycare, created by David Marom, his daughter, and other co-founders. Pawsability is located in Bushwick, Brooklyn, and provides vocational training and employment opportunities for autistic adults.
An often overlooked part of society, autistic adults have a difficult time finding and retaining meaningful jobs. Pawsability is that perfect balance by helping serve the community through vocational training while also running as an organization that serves customers. From daycare to grooming needs, dogs receive quality care from community members.
Learning vocational skills and how an organization operates helps employees in the long run and prepares them for the future. It’s a way for them to gain experience in an accommodated environment that they may have difficulty finding at other jobs. On top of that, Pawsability trainees and employees work directly with dogs which can provide a sense of relief and therapy.
Many autistic adults struggle in the standard office setting as it requires constant interaction and communication with colleagues. At Pawsability, most of the job requires focusing on the dogs. Trainees and staff work directly with the dogs to ensure they are playing in a fun and safe space.
David Marom and The Horizon Group have also supported The Unifying Line for nearly two decades. It is a nonprofit organization out of Israel that helps people with disabilities and terminal diseases. It’s a little more hands-off since it’s not local to New York, but it still gives back to a community that David feels connected to.
Making an Effort as a Company
No company should go without trying to give back to a community. There’s no set way to give back to a community, but making an effort helps.
Companies also have the opportunity to team up with others if they are hesitant about who to work with. Combining forces makes it more impactful in many cases. One smaller company might only be able to do a little, but a bunch of smaller companies working together can be very helpful.
David Marom and The Horizon Group love leading by example, but they understand that every company is different. Finding a specific niche and giving back is one of the best ways to feel like a true impact is being made.
