We all want to have beautiful skin, but it’s not always easy. Sometimes the process seems complicated or confusing. You might be wondering what steps you should take to improve your skin naturally. Well, don’t worry! Dr Ryan Shelton is here to help with these six easy steps that will lead you on your way to better-looking skin!
Drink Lots of Water
People say this all the time, but it is important. Drinking enough water is crucial to all aspects of your health, including taking care of your skin. When you are dehydrated, not only does it make your skin look dull and dry, but it can lead to acne breakouts. So be sure that when you are drinking water throughout the day, you’re doing so in addition to what you get from food!
Eat a Healthy and Balanced Diet
Try to eat as many organic vegetables as possible, and always have different fruits in your fridge. It’s also important to include whole grains, nuts, seeds, lean meats/fish. You can also try adding more fruits into your diet for a burst of vitamin C that will keep you looking fresh and glowing throughout the day. Eating healthy makes you feel better but also gives you the best skin possible!
Use Sunscreen Every Day
It’s important to wear sunscreen on sunny days because the sun’s harmful rays damage our skin cells, making them age faster than they should be. Make sure you apply it before going outside, so it has time to soak in properly before absorbing ultraviolet light from the sun or any other sources such as tanning beds.
Have a Good Skincare Routine
Be sure to take care of your skin twice a day. The best time to do so is in the morning and before bed at night. You can use a gentle cleanser and soft washcloth to remove the night’s dirt, oil, etc. Then you should follow up by applying your favorite moisturizer! If it is winter time be sure that you are using an extra rich cream for your skin to stay hydrated.
Get Enough Sleep for Your Body to Heal Itself From the Inside Out
We’ve all heard it before, but how many of us do this? Getting enough sleep is important for your body to rejuvenate itself from the inside out. And when you sleep, your body works hard to restore its cells to their original state. So make sure you get a good night’s rest! If you aren’t getting at least eight hours a night, try going to bed a little earlier or a little later, depending on what time zone you’re in!
Be Mindful of Your Stress Level and Practice Relaxation Technique
Stress can be extremely harmful to your body–it keeps the adrenal glands overactive, which keeps us in a chronic state of fight-or-flight. This can wreak havoc on your skin, causing it to feel tight and dry. Be sure that you are practicing some sort of relaxation technique to keep your skin looking great. You must find ways to relax, even if they are just 15 minutes every day! Try practicing meditation or yoga so that you can keep stress at bay and enjoy healthy glowing skin for life!
