Individuals visiting Scottsdale often find it difficult to choose between the many attractions. Even those who have visited the area more than once may find themselves overwhelmed with options when it comes to what they should see and do. The following attractions make the bucket lists of countless individuals every year. Be sure to check them out when in the area.

    Taliesin West

Frank Lloyd Wright called Taliesin West his beloved winter home. First established in 1937, the property continued to grow over the years. The beauty of this residence draws many visitors. In fact, today it has been named a UNESCO World Heritage site as well as a National Historic Landmark. When renting a condo in Scottsdale, ask for one located near the desert foothills of the McDowell Mountains to see this beauty regularly throughout the visit.

    McDowell Sonoran Preserve

Visitors who come to McDowell Sonoran Preserve often do so to take advantage of the many hiking trails. They want to see the beauty of the area up close, and there is no better way to do so. Take time to visit the Parsons Field Institute or ride a horse through the desert. The preserve does ask that people leave nature as they found it, so don’t plan on bringing home any unusual rocks, plants, or other natural objects from the park.

    Old Town Scottsdale

Plan a trip to Old Town Scottsdale and be prepared to want to return. From the wine trail to the immersive Van Gogh exhibit, there is something for everyone. Events change regularly, so plan this trip around a favorite exhibit or other activity. While in the area, do some shopping or have a meal with friends. Check out the Little Red Schoolhouse and learn when and why the city changed its name back in 1894. This is an interesting tidbit many people don’t know.

    Butterfly Wonderland

Anyone who has ever wanted to visit a rainforest can do so without leaving America. A visit to Butterfly Wonderland immerses them in the full experience of this magical habitat. Visitors will see animals only found in this type of environment and learn about Monarch migration. In addition, they can see a live chrysalis emerge as a beautiful butterfly. Some people even try edible insects. This conservatory is home to thousands of butterflies from 70 different species, so a person can spend hours just soaking in their beauty before checking out the other attractions.

    Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art

Anyone who loves contemporary art, architecture, and design should plan a visit to the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. Combine this with a trip to Old Town Scottsdale and have an amazing day from start to finish. Visitors can see one of the few public “skyspaces” in the world today. This skyspace allows them to see how the light of the desert sky constantly changes. While there, take in the exhibits or participate in a docent-led tour. There are also educational programs for kids and special events for families and adults.

The warm weather the area is known for ensures there is time to see these attractions and more. Play a round of golf or spend an evening dining out with friends at one of the many restaurants in the area. Individuals who visit Scottsdale find they are never bored, as there is so much to see and do in this amazing area.
