If we imagine Russia in a human form – this person definitely has a generous spirit! With all its historical and cultural wealth, an abundance of exciting landscapes, and no less beautiful people – this can not be otherwise!
But, unfortunately – for Western people, this country of pure fascination still seems to be cold and distant. Only the most desperate travelers decide to open their hearts to it. And, as you might guess – they never regret this decision. No wonder: there are thousands of places in Russia where you can let your body and soul become assimilated in the calmness of the wildlife! Among the most famous ones, such as the Valley of Geysers on the Kamchatka Peninsula, Lake Baikal on the North, or Kazan Kremlin on the East – it has many undiscovered places. We talk about the natural and architectural wonders of Russia that usually do not get into the must-see lists. Which, however, deserve to be visited.
Today, we’ll tell you about four of them – get your portion of inspiration and keep the bags ready for the trip! Especially if you have a few hot Russian mail-order brides to join you.
Lake Elton
Locals call Lake Elton – The Golden Bottom. Because of the seaweed, the body of water gleams with all the tones of gemstones. From amber to coral and bright ultramarine – all possible shades of minerals can be seen there.
The lake is so small that you can actually walk on it. The average depth of it in summer is only 2 inches. This is a perfect opportunity for all Instagram lovers to take breathtaking photos with reflection, creating the illusion of walking in the sky.
Near Elton, you can watch cranes, just like other birds, typical for these latitudes. And if you’re blessed enough, see the flowering of unique Schrenk tulips in your own eyes. They are listed in the Red Book, by the way.
Ordinskaya Cave
To see the cavern, which is more than three million years old, is the goal of many adventurers. And if this cave is also full of water – it certainly is a challenge in Indiana Jones style! Convoluted path, mysterious grottoes, and stalagmites just like in the well-known Hollywood movie – who would not want to see this?
Are you now excited about such an experience? Book your tickets to Ordinskaya Cave right away! It is located in the Perm Oblast right near the Kungur River. Five kilometers of its labyrinths have already been explored by divers. Although, exactly the same amount is waiting for its heroes yet.
Chara Sands
A sandy wilderness in an icecaps environment – appears to be a crazy fantasy of an imaginative tourist, doesn’t it? But Chara Sands is accurately the place where such an oddity happens in real life: there, the typical desert is encircled by the firm glaciers of Kodar.
Still, this strange natural miracle performs its own modifications: instead of camels – reindeer. There are also no palms there – spruces and juniper are the alternatives. This contrast gives the area even more grace, don’t you think so?
Jack London Lake
This large lake covers ten kilometers (more than six miles) with its water body. Its highlight is four picturesque islets, though.
If you wonder why it has such an interesting name – you will be surprised by hearing the explanation. The legendary author Jack London had never been there. Instead, the group of explorers who detected this masterpiece of nature – noticed on its bank a book with his stories. How the tome got there and who the secret philosopher who found himself in this uninhabited part of the Northern region of Russia is unfamiliar even nowadays.
