It is no question that the coronavirus pandemic and lockdowns have had devastating effects on economies around the world. Many businesses, large and small alike, are struggling during this time. But some industries are not only surviving the pandemic, they are thriving.

    1. Delivery Services

This one is a no-brainer. With lockdowns and general COVID safety advice, people are increasingly turning to delivery services to avoid going to crowded shops and restaurants. UberEATS, Postmates, and DoorDash are all businesses that are thriving during the pandemic. Even smaller businesses are providing more takeout and delivery services than they did before. You can still buy things you want and eat restaurant quality food without leaving your house, and delivery services are a great way to support your favourite businesses without exposing yourself to coronavirus.

    2. Home and Garden

With people spending more time at home, it stands to reason that they would want to make their environment pleasant. This ranther affected most camping, events and capeglobaltents rental service companies. It is no surprise then that the home, gardening, and landscaping industries are all thriving despite the COVID pandemic. Not only are we spending more time at home, but we are also working from home and conducting Zoom calls where your entire office can see your furniture and the artwork on your walls. Many are also embracing the opportunity to take up a gardening hobby or get in touch with their inner interior designer.

    3. Food and Drink

We will always need to eat, and with less opportunities to go to restaurants, people are turning their attention to cooking more and more. At the start of the pandemic as people stocked up on emergency rations, demand for food spiked. However, it has remained high throughout the pandemic as people cook more special meals and consider food a highlight of the day. Things like meal kits and deliverable wine tastings have also become popular. Speaking of wine, the liquor industry has certainly not struggled to stay afloat. Instead of going to a crowded bar, people are enjoying their drinks at home. And let’s be honest, during times of stress, many turn to a glass of wine or a refreshing beer at the end of the day.

    4. Remote Work Software

Anyone noticed how there are so many more video chatting programmes than there ever were before? In addition to video chatting, communications platforms like Slack, organisational programmes like Hubstaff, and many more types of remote work software have exploded over the past year. It makes sense when you consider how many more people are spending time visit website, working, and socialising from home than ever before.

    5. Fitness Equipment

As many gyms have closed and it has become more difficult to access pools and parks, many people are staying home to get their workout. This has led to a boom in the fitness equipment industry. This does include treadmills and exercise bikes, but the biggest spike in demand has been for cheaper products like yoga mats and resistance bands. With home exercise routines all over YouTube and simple fitness products easy to attain, lockdown is no excuse to lose your fitness.
