An unusual trend is gaining momentum in the world. Developers are offering the millennial generation not the usual apartment complexes with “sliced up” apartments, but colvings. It is the coliving nyc concept that combines a special form of neighborhood for work and life. Some developers have already managed to make colvings a thriving business.

Not yet an apartment, but no longer a dormitory

The concept of coleving seems something exotic, but for the generation of Soviet people it is quite familiar thanks to the communal apartments. A person gets individual space in the common property. The size of personal space is mainly determined by budget. But still, experts do not include Soviet communal flats and institute dormitories to the colivings. This is something between your own home and hostel or apartment, more on Outpost.com. In terms of philosophy, coliving is a place where young and creative people live, work and relax.

What does a coliwing look like?

In its structure, coliwings resemble modern apartments, but with a truly homely feel. You can come here light – without furniture, appliances and other attributes and still feel at home. The fee includes the rent, utilities and, of course, the Internet.

They don’t want to live in hotels or rent apartments, because they don’t get the necessary set of amenities for a reasonable price. But colvings always have what you need. It’s not uncommon for developers to try to get people with the same interests under one roof: designers, IT people, and others. They have common topics for discussion, they share a certain philosophy of life

The collywings format won’t suit everyone, of course. But it attracts millennials – people aged around 18-27. They don’t want to live in hotels or rent a place to live because they don’t get the amenities they need at a reasonable price. But the colivings always have what you need. Often developers try to gather under one roof people with similar interests: designers, IT-sphere representatives and others. They have common topics for discussion, they share a certain philosophy of life.

In their pure form, colivings are also likely to be of interest to Russian millennials. Digital nomads, unlike previous generations, have different interests. They live by the principle of sherring, they do not want to be tied to private property, they love to travel, and they are more mobile in everything.
