In this article, we’ll look at some of the most common difficulties and solutions for mobile automated testing.

Because of the exponential rise of mobile devices, businesses now have more opportunities to connect with their consumers in the computing environment. Consumers and companies have progressively adopted mobile applications as their major mode of communication. Mobile automation testing is a fast-paced business that is constantly changing the market for mobile applications.

Mobile applications are now developed with understandable functionality in order to provide user-friendly and engaging features. This process of integrating unique functionality into mobile apps necessitates meticulous testing techniques.

Below listed are some of the most common challenges that app developers and software testers face during the mobile automated testing process, along with their solutions:

    1. OS Fragmentation:

As new mobile devices are released, new updates to the mobile operating system are released as well. It progressively causes compatibility difficulties for smartphone users who utilize several mobile applications. Whenever a business launches a new mobile phone, there’s a good possibility it’ll run on an older operating system.

It takes a long time for new OS upgrades to reach end-users. It is suggested that mobile application developers create apps that work with the current OS version. is widely accessible and widely used by smartphone users. Software testers must also test the application on emulators and mobile devices for the same OS versions. They can even combine internal mobile lab testing with cloud-based mobile testing services.

    2. Stability of Network:

The performance of an application is heavily influenced by network connectivity. When a user goes from one station to another in a service region, there is a momentary loss or change in connectivity. This network element will have a direct impact on the behavior and performance of the mobile application.

A strong mobile application capable of managing such circumstances should be developed by the developer. The solution to this problem is for a software tester to examine many scenarios while testing the mobile app, such as how the program works offline, what effect different Wi-Fi speeds have on the app, connection dropout, poor signal strength, and so on.

    3. Physical Properties of Mobile Devices:

There are three categories of mobile apps: native, hybrid, and web applications. In terms of speed, performance, usability, and compatibility, all three types of apps differ substantially. Mobile platform interface, loading speed, execution, download, and update behavior must all be evaluated for native and hybrid mobile apps.

Web applications, on the other hand, are more reliant on the browser and its version. Eliminating the alternatives is a straightforward way to avoid this complication in mobile automated testing of native, hybrid, and online applications that support different mobile infrastructures.

    4. Efficiency, Privacy, and Functionality:

In order to give the apps an interactive experience, the developers must host them on a public cloud with a large amount of data saved and shared across several devices. When compared to a private cloud, public clouds have higher security problems. Data breaches become more likely at the same time that the application’s performance and usability suffer.

Maintaining a clean interface while providing the essential information to the user is a challenging task. It is suggested that mobile application testing be given serious consideration and that all necessary tests be conducted to protect data privacy. It steadily improves usability and functionality and also assists testers in detecting security flaws.

    5. User Experience (UX) and Specialized Techniques:

When it comes to mobile app development, one of the most essential elements is user experience (UX). Some businesses try to include as many features as possible in their mobile app, which results in a less user-friendly app with a poor user experience.

The firm should concentrate on the key aspects that should be provided to customers. It aids in the avoidance of information overload while also improving the user experience.

Maintenance of test automation suites over time is a typical issue inside businesses. The ability to continually monitor and modify the test automation suite via reports and dashboards may help teams stay within test execution time constraints while also giving them the tools to remove flaky and troublesome tests, ensuring that the suite is as easily functional as possible.
