The first half of 2022 has passed its midpoint, and what a first half it was! The rest of the year should be on par. Whether you play on Xbox, Playstation, PC, Nintendo Switch, or previous-generation platforms, plenty of titles should get you excited.
This round of upcoming games includes some of the most anticipated titles and their release dates.
Are you ready to create an early Christmas wish list? Let’s dive in!
The Last of Us Part I – September 2nd
In light of Joel and Ellie’s upcoming live-action premiere, Naughty Dog may have made a wise move by remaking the game that spawned it now. The PlayStation 5 version of the game will be released on September 2nd, with a PC copy to follow at a later date.
The Last of Us Part I will feature the prologue chapter, Left Behind, in addition to being completely remade from the ground up with updated gameplay, controls, and accessibility options. It will seem and function more like the sequel from a few years ago, recognized by many as an all-time classic.
The standalone multiplayer component, which was also discussed last month, remains unannounced but considering that it is scheduled for next year, this is to be expected.
FIFA 23 – September/October
EA Sports, the company behind the long-running football video game series, is said to be considering rebranding the game as they go through their naming rights arrangement. This might need a major restructuring effort on the part of FIFA.
The release date has yet to be announced, but a teaser and an announcement might arrive as early as the end of July, if not sooner. It’s safe to assume that the FIFA 23 online app will launch soon.
Many will be speculating who will replace Kylian MbappĂ© on the renowned FIFA front cover, which he has held down for the past two years. In our opinion, there’s a good probability Harry Kane will make an appearance in FIFA 23.
This comes as a result of the great season that the 28-year-old just completed. In all competitions, he scored 23 goals and set up 14 assists, making him one of the most prolific forwards in the Premier League. Various new betting sites in the US, such as bet365, are tipping the London-born striker for the Golden Boot for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Return to Monkey Island – End of 2022
Return to Monkey Island is a surprising and exhilarating return of series creator Ron Gilbert, and it follows the story of the renowned adventure games The Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge, which were developed in conjunction with Lucasfilm Games.
Guybrush Threepwood and his enemy, the undead pirate LeChuck, haven’t battled for a considerable length of time. While Elaine Marley, his real love, has shifted her concentration away from things, Guybrush is left feeling lost and unfulfilled, having failed to discover the Secret of Monkey Island.
Almost nothing is known about the story, gameplay, or anything else, but we can tell from the video that the graphics remain in the same vein as past games in the series, but with improved graphics. Lovely!
God of War: Ragnarok – November 9, 2022
God of War Ragnarok has been confirmed and t he game already has a lot to live up to. Sony’s Santa Monica Studio has announced that the upcoming game will wrap up the Norse tale from God of War, which was released in 2018. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the stakes are tremendous for this one.
There is certainly a lot of interest in the game from the public, as well. God Of War Ragnarok presently has the highest views of any trailer released during the most recent Sony PlayStation Showcase, at more than 15 million.
