While some parents believe the best way to protect their child is not to give them a phone until a certain age, others understand that sooner or later, it will be necessary. When that time comes, it’s important to ensure the child’s use of the device is safe. The Internet is filled with various “junk” in the form of inappropriate content, harsh language, online scammers, and more. Additionally, children are not yet capable of managing their screen time responsibly. Even adults struggle with this; we might intend to check Instagram for five minutes and find ourselves still scrolling through stories and reels two hours later. It’s even harder for children. Therefore, using a parental block app is a tool that can help manage the challenges posed by the online environment.

    Advantages of Parental Control

Parental control apps are primarily designed to limit children’s access to inappropriate content of any kind: horror movies, questionable games, gambling sites, adult content, etc. Parents can’t constantly look over their children’s shoulders to check if they’re accessing resources that could harm their psyche, negatively affect their development, or cause trauma. Thus, a parental block app is a helpful assistant. If the app includes a feature to monitor online activity and behavior, it provides even more advantages, as parents can ensure what their child is interested in, which sites they visit, and which messengers they use.

The ability to set screen time limits is also beneficial for the whole family: parents don’t have to monitor it themselves. If a child reaches their daily usage limit, the device automatically restricts access, and they can’t go online or start a game without additional permission. However, the app doesn’t limit the child’s ability to make or receive calls – they remain reachable. If the child’s phone battery is low and the device might shut down, parents receive a notification. This reduces unnecessary worries.

Additional protection ensures children’s safety and helps parents stay calm: even if they can’t discuss everything with their child or might miss something, the app on the phone or PC helps them fulfill this mission.

Over-reliance on technology can create a false sense of security. It may seem that with this solution, children are automatically always protected. However, it is only an auxiliary tool that enhances safety without guaranteeing it completely.

Therefore, using technology is necessary, but it’s important to remember that the primary responsibility still lies with the parents. They must explain how to behave online, what to be wary of, how to communicate properly, and how to avoid cyber scammers. The best way is to demonstrate all this through their example. Children often don’t listen to what they are told but always adopt behavioral patterns in the family, so act comprehensively, and your children will be protected.
