Personal branding – your own personal brand specifically will always be the determining factor in the way you develop within your organization or how your company’s image is perceived.
Why should sustainability be part of your personal branding? Let’s begin by understanding exactly what a personal brand is. Personal branding is an enduring and generally consistent perception of a person based on their experiences, knowledge, skills, actions, as well as successes within a group, industry or market at large.
Your personal brand is the way you present yourself. It’s the distinctive combination of your abilities, knowledge, experience, and persona that everyone is welcome to view. It’s a reflection of your conduct behavior, both spoken and unspoken words, and attitude. It tells the story of you.
Your personal brand can be used to distinguish you from others. If you’re successful at it you could tie your personal brand to your company in ways that corporations cannot compete with.
People purchase from other people.
As the consequences get more obvious, the times to decide whether to “go green” or not are over. It’s becoming increasingly expected to play a role in reducing emissions to reduce global warming and protect the planet from irreparable destruction.
Making conscious choices that affect the future of our world not only shows you’re concerned about the future but also that you’re paying attention to your customers. A recent American study showed that 68 percent of millennials purchased products that have the benefit of environmental or social justice over the past year, 88 percent are most loyal to businesses that are committed to environmental or social issues, and 87 percent are likely to choose a product with the environmental or social benefits when given the chance. Most would also rather play on an online casino instead of the real thing which leaves a bigger footprint.
Many are uncertain of the impact one person could make. If we’re headed towards natural catastrophes (heat stress rising sea levels and flooding, drought) How could one person at a moment prevent this from happening? The truth is that each and every little thing we take – collectively – will begin to build an environment.
From a position of trials and errors, learning and baby steps, making sustainability a component in our personal brands isn’t a one-time event. It’s important to make it an element of the clients’ own personal brand as well.
Reduce the amount of waste
Recycled paper uses less water and energy, and its production process generates less carbon than paper that is not recycled. As we moved to meet people face-to-face in the past year, I made sure that all of my workshop materials were made from recycled papers. Then, I added a small message on the bottom that reads “No one wants to be the image of a slob”.
Is it more expensive? Yes. However, as many businesses have been asked, can they be able to afford going green? the issue now needs to be: are they able to do it?
There’s been an enormous shift in the perception of consumers of expectations, demands and requirements that businesses that don’t participate will be struggling to stay afloat. The world’s “material footprint” increased by 70 percent between 2000 to 2017 (UN). The amount of food we consume is increasing yet recycling practices aren’t adequate. To cut down on consumption, we should be mindful of what we purchase and opt for the most sustainable option every time feasible.
Prioritize sustainable materials
A circular economy is essential in promoting sustainable development while also protecting the natural resources we have. It is imperative to reconsider how we design, utilize and dispose of daily products. The UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has issued an economic circularity policy that outlines methods by which the UAE can move towards more sustainable economics.
