Renovating your house yourself can be an exciting project. Plus, it’ll solve the issue of paying heavily for workers to carry out the job for you. Many projects can be carried out without the help of professionals, but you must have the appropriate tools. Whether you’re completing structural work or some small renovations, there are plenty of tools that can simplify the job. Below, we explore the essential tools for this.

    The essentials

These are the obvious tools, but they’re also the ones that you’ll need every day during the project. Screwdrivers, hammers and spanners should be part of any DIY arsenal, but if you don’t have one spare you should invest in it. On top of this, you should look into getting a handsaw, cutting pliers and a cutter as well.

    PPE

When renovating your house yourself, safety is even more important than having the latest DIY equipment. Personal protective equipment (or PPE) is therefore vital. For a start, you’ll want a helmet. It’s likely that there’ll be falling debris when renovating the house, and the last thing you want is a head injury. On top of this, you’ll need sturdy and safe shoes in the event of debris landing on your feet. Then, it’s important to add protective gloves to your inventory as you’ll be handling rough, abrasive items throughout the day. In the event of your protective gear failing, it’s crucial to have a first aid kit to patch up any non-serious injuries too.

    Power tools

Power tools will do the brunt of the work for you – without them the process of renovating the house would be long and arduous. While power tools can be expensive, they earn their keep by saving you plenty of time on the job.

There’s your obvious drill. This will be getting through plenty of work, so you’ll want something powerful and durable.

The jigsaw drill will enable you to make round cuts on items such as wood – without one you could end up with a rough finish.

Meanwhile, a Milwaukee circular saw can provide an even more accurate rounded cut, especially on longer selections of wood, or other materials.

If you’re using plenty of wood, then consider a sander too. This machine will work much faster than sandpaper and will create a clean, accurate finish so that you can stick things together.

If it’s metal you’re working on, then a grinder will be a useful option. This tool can cut and polish metal surfaces, depending upon what’s required.

Renovating your house can seem like tough work. But with the correct equipment it can be made a whole lot simpler.
