The purpose of this blog is to help beginner players and those looking to utilize Ark Survival Evolved’s latest update, The Center. In our first article we’ll be discussing how to host an Ark server which will be further discussed with the next article.
Ark servers are a way for players joining a server can get some form of interaction with one another, whether it be fighting bears or just chatting about life in general. When you join a public server, other players will see your map location and can attack you on sight. If you’re looking for more protection from griefers, think about joining a private server which won’t let other players enter unless they have permission from the owner of the server.
What is Ark Survival Evolved?
Ark Survival Evolved is a game released on Steam’s Early Access program which has received a lot of positive reviews. You start off in Ark with nothing but your underwear and a rock. Your objective is to survive against hundreds of dinosaurs, better known as ‘Arkmutts’, as well as other players who are competing with you for gathering/defeating these creatures.
Ark Survival Evolved Server has been receiving regular updates from its developer, Studio Wildcard, who’s been committed to make Ark an amazing experience for all gamers regardless if you’re playing on PC, Xbox One or PS4. The game has gone on sale numerous times, usually being 50% off the original price, bringing in new players who want to try their hand at this amazing game. There’s a lot of unique features Ark offers compared to other Survival games, such as the ability to tame wild animals and ride them around for you to use as transportation. This game is generally about surviving and collecting rare items/materials in order to craft/build stronger equipment, weapons and/or shelter which can be very helpful for protecting yourself from wild dinos.
There are several servers available when searching Ark servers through Steam. The two main choices are Official servers and Community servers which both offer different modes of gameplay.
For Official servers, you have three different choices: PvE (Player vs Environment), PvPvE ( Player vs Player vs Environment ) and PvP. On PvE servers, there’s no risk of other players attacking you unless they’re a tribe on your server. This mode is great for players who wants to build up their base(s) without being bothered by other players around the world in order to obtain rare flowers/herbs.
The PvPvE mode allows PvE servers where you can’t be attacked unless you attack another player first. This is best for new players who want to learn about crafting/taming and don’t want to be attacked in order to prevent any further conflict from occurring.
Significance of Ark Survival Evolved Server:
You are able to use the ‘Spawn’ command to spawn items/buildings and search new areas. Sometimes these places can be quite far away from your base and this will be the case for both PvE servers and PvP servers. In order for you to get to these locations, however, you’ll have to use a vehicle (such as a boat or other vehicle which can take a lot of damage) in order to reach it.
Ark servers are one of the top games on Steam, often receiving many positive reviews from gamers who like how each server has a different story line. While players may not see each others in real life or meet in person, you will still be interacting with them through their unique characters. Each server will have a different form of tier system for people who don’t have the most expensive items or those who don’t have anything at all. There are various types of servers that people can choose from, such as ‘GriefPrevention’ and ‘PvPvE’ which both cost either $20-$29 each month.
Each server offers different activities to do so you’re not bored with just one type of server if you join more than one. For PvE servers, some of the activities include farming resources/animals, gathering blueprints and making a strong base which can defend against potential intruders. On PvP servers, you can decide whether you want to fight other players, or just ignore them by building a base far away from where they’re at.
There are many options out there as long as you’re willing to explore and research what’s available. You don’t have to join the most expensive server if you’re not looking for that sort of experience, but at least you were able to learn more about what each server has and how it works in order for you to make a better decision on which one suits your needs.
Conclusion:
If you’re wanting to play Ark but don’t want to buy anything, I recommend you look for a free server or look for a server that’s hosting a giveaway for new players. If you’d like to save some money, I suggest joining a private server which would be better suited for people who want to build/hide from other players and just play the game in general.
