The main function of the thermostat is to maintain the set temperature. This is achieved by switching the heating elements on and off. This means that the thermostat saves energy as the system only switches on periodically when the temperature to be controlled drops. The electricity consumption is, therefore, more economical and although the device is not cheap, it pays for itself within a few months to a year. The payback depends on the cost of the chosen model.

There are three most popular types of thermostats: electromechanical thermostats, digital thermostats, and programmable thermostats.

An electro-mechanical thermostat has a switch that sets the desired temperature by turning it. They are the cheapest and easiest devices to operate.

Digital thermostat types are more expensive. They are controlled by a pushbutton. There are tactile or touch buttons, depending on the model. Typically these units also have a digital display panel that shows the current temperature and the value to be set.

Programmable thermostats. Are the most expensive models, but they have more functionality. They have modifications that allow setting the temperature for the day, have the ability to program the temperature mode for the week, and there are those that can be controlled via a computer or tablet, some have a remote control.

The more functions and features a thermostat has, the more expensive the device costs.

In hot water systems with instantaneous and cylinder water heaters and with storage tanks, for temperature control in individual and district heating, cooling, air conditioning, and industrial and marine systems, control valves are used in combination with a thermostat, which is a direct-acting temperature regulator. The thermostat closes the control valve when the temperature exceeds a set value. The regulator can be installed on both the supply and return pipe of a heating network.

When the differential pressure raises Belimo сontrol valves close and ensures a constant flow rate of the heating medium. The flow rate does not depend on the differential pressure, but only on the opening angle of the valve. The degree of control of the valve is 1 always, even when larger valve diameters than required are used. Honeywell is an American corporation that manufactures electronic control and automation systems. Honeywell control valves make it possible to achieve very precise temperature control in heating and cooling systems. There are also temperature control devices known as Johnson Controls control valves. It is an American company and a leading global supplier of building systems equipment and parts, offering a wide range of high quality products. Each valve is subjected to special leakage tests and is backed by a manufacturer’s warranty.

The advantage of control valves is that they do not require balancing valves and the fitting of consuming devices is much simpler – only one valve is required for each consumer. Thus, costs are significantly reduced and at the same time, the degree of convenience is increased.

Radiators must be fitted with thermostatic valves to ensure comfort and economical operation of the heating system. The thermostatic valve controls the flow of the heating medium by reducing or increasing the degree of heating of the radiator and raising or lowering the room temperature. Hayward Flow control valves are a simple, cost-effective, and efficient solution to balance energy resources. Thermostatically controlled valves automatically maintain the set room temperature by changing the volume of heat transfer fluid by automatically opening or closing the heater inlet.

Flow control valves are also effective in cases where the heating system in the house is poorly balanced, the heating appliances closest to the boiler are sufficiently heated and the next ones weakly heated. In this case, installing thermostatic valves with additional adjustment to the heavily heated radiators solves such a problem and helps achieve optimum heating of radiators that were previously under-functioning. If the function of additional adjustment on the radiators is absent, it is recommended to install a non-return valve on the radiator to replace this function.

HVAC Supplier from Chicago will solve the problem of finding the right parts at the right price. The company has a wide range of products from damper actuators and valves to networking equipment and plumbing. You do not have to worry about the company’s image, as it has more than 30 years of experience with satisfied customers.

You should choose your thermostat responsibly. Its proper operation guarantees your safety.
