As part of an educational alliance designed to save students money and graduate faster, more than 750 University of Phoenix graduates have participated in a special transfer program. Using Study.com’s College Accelerator solution, University of Phoenix students had access to an affordable option that let them transfer credits from Study.com to the University.
The College Accelerator program allows students to access more than 220 courses. Upon successful completion of that coursework, students can transfer credit toward a degree program at University of Phoenix.
“Study.com and University of Phoenix share a commitment to offering students an economical and efficient path for their educational journey as well as helping them maintain their focus on reaching their career goals,” said Chris Mancini, Study.com’s chief growth officer. “These graduates are part of our incredible program with University of Phoenix, which has helped students save significant cost and time to graduation.”
Students using the College Accelerator meet with a Study.com success coach to discuss educational goals, interests and course selection. The success coach helps ensure that students select the right courses to help them reach their degree aspirations. They also help students complete the maximum number of transferable Study.com credits depending on the program selected. In addition, the success coach helps facilitate the transfer of those credits to University of Phoenix.
College Accelerator courses are available in a range of subjects including business, education, health and medicine, history, the humanities, math, science, social sciences, technology and engineering.
A Seamless Fit with University of Phoenix
The seamless integration between University of Phoenix and Study.com is designed with students in mind. Both organizations recognize the needs of adult learners to balance academic pursuits with personal and professional obligations.
Of the 220 Study.com courses recommended for college credit, more than 50 are upper-division. Students can transfer a maximum of 87 Study.com credits to University of Phoenix for eligible associate and bachelor’s degree programs.
“Many of our students are working adults juggling school and other responsibilities and are looking for ways to save time and money,” said John Woods, University of Phoenix provost. “Study.com’s flexible on-demand platform has helped University of Phoenix students pursue their educational and career goals by providing a resource to save on tuition and classroom time.”
Like University of Phoenix, Study.com provides students with a flexible learning experience. The platform uses short micro lessons that include video and allow students to learn at their own pace. The flexibility lets many students accelerate the pace of learning and finish courses faster.
Courses in Study.com’s College Accelerator program meet similar academic standards as those found in traditional higher education programs. College Accelerator courses have been evaluated and recommended for credit by the American Council on Education (ACE) and the National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS).
The Impact of College Accelerator
Thomas Shelton is a great example of the impact of the alliance between University of Phoenix and Study.com. Shelton recently completed his bachelor’s degree in management. He selected University of Phoenix because its online learning platform and scheduling of classes fit with his schedule, especially while working full-time at Comcast Corp.
At the start of his University of Phoenix experience, Shelton’s academic advisor recommended the Study.com College Accelerator program as a way for him to save time and money. Shelton liked the idea, found the Study.com platform intuitive and was able to complete about 30 credits that could be applied toward his University of Phoenix degree program.
“I wanted an online format that allowed me to take just one class at a time, and University of Phoenix offered that,” Shelton said. “Including Study.com in my educational experience kept me motivated with its user-friendly platform, and I was able to fast-track my education. Most importantly, I was able to apply what I learned by improving my leadership skills and enhancing my critical thinking skills.”
Phoenix Pathway Program for Community College Students
University of Phoenix also offers a Community College Transfer Pathway program that lets students complete a bachelor’s degree program in as little as 14 months. Students are able to transfer up to 87 credits from a community college and receive reduced tuition and course waivers.
Eligible bachelor’s degree programs for the Community College Transfer Pathway program include health management, information technology and management, and the RN to BSN program for nurses.
Transfer Pathway program students can complete the remaining 11 courses, or 33 credits, at their own pace. In addition, they save up to $1,220 and can complete a bachelor’s degree program for as little as $12,200.
