The DHA exam is a screening test for doctors, nurses, dentists, and other health professionals who want to work in Dubai. It checks your clinical knowledge and decision-making skills. If you studied outside exempt countries like the UK, USA, Canada, or Australia, you must take this exam.

The test has 150 multiple-choice questions. It covers topics based on your specialty. You will have around 165 to 180 minutes to finish the exam. The passing score is usually 60 percent, though it’s slightly lower for some allied health jobs.

The exam is computer-based. You will take it at an approved test center or through an online proctored system, depending on DHA guidelines.

Before booking your slot, you must complete several steps, like document verification and eligibility approval. Only then can you move forward to reserve your exam date. This entire process ensures that Dubai hires only qualified healthcare professionals.

    Eligibility Criteria

You cannot book the DHA exam without first meeting the eligibility rules. You must hold a valid medical license from your home or last country of work. DHA also asks for at least two years of post-internship experience. Your qualifications must pass Primary Source Verification through DataFlow. Additionally, you need a Good Standing Certificate issued within the last six months. Once DHA reviews and approves your documents, you get an eligibility ID for booking.

     Slot Booking Process

Booking a DHA exam slot follows a step-by-step process. First, you need to register on the Sheryan portal, which is DHA’s online licensing platform. You will fill in your personal information, education history, and work experience. Upload required documents like a passport, a recent photo, degree certificates, and experience letters.

After registration, start your DataFlow verification. This step checks if your education and work experience documents are real and valid. DataFlow sends reports directly to DHA after checking with the issuing institutions. This process usually takes around 30 to 45 days, so start early.

Once DataFlow gives a positive report, DHA will review your case. If you meet all their conditions, you will get eligibility approval. DHA will issue a unique eligibility ID linked to your profile.

With this eligibility ID, you can move to the next step: booking your Prometric exam slot. Go to the Prometric website. Choose “Dubai Health Authority” from the test sponsor list. Enter your eligibility ID and personal details.

Select your test center location. This can be in Dubai or any other available Prometric center worldwide. Pick a date and time that suits you. Review the booking details carefully.

Next, pay the exam fee online using a credit or debit card. Prometric will send you a confirmation email once your booking is complete.

Make sure to print your appointment confirmation. You will need this on exam day, along with an original government-issued photo ID, like your passport. Booking early is better as slots fill up fast, especially in busy seasons.

    Exam Fees

DHA exam fees depend on your profession and specialty. On average, the cost ranges from AED 260 to AED 300 for most medical categories. Some allied health exams may cost less or slightly more. You will see the exact fee during the booking stage on the Prometric website. Payment is made online using a credit or debit card. Keep a digital receipt or screenshot for your records after payment.

    Exam Scheduling Details

You can schedule the DHA exam at any time during the year. Prometric offers test slots based on seat availability. Most candidates find good availability within two to four weeks after receiving eligibility. However, peak periods like summer and winter can get busy. After getting eligibility, wait at least 48 to 72 hours for your information to sync with Prometric before trying to book. Always plan early to secure your preferred date.

    Preparation Tips

Good preparation can improve your chances of passing the DHA exam. Start by reviewing the DHA exam syllabus for your specialty. Focus on common topics like diagnosis, patient safety, emergency management, and UAE healthcare guidelines.

Use reliable study materials. Many candidates recommend online question banks, sample test papers, and DHA-specific study guides. Try solving mock exams under timed conditions. This will help you manage your time during the real test.

Join study groups if possible. Discussing case scenarios with peers can boost understanding. Some candidates also enroll in short DHA exam preparation courses, either online or in person.

Take care of your health during preparation. Sleep well, eat balanced meals, and avoid last-minute cramming. On exam day, carry your ID and confirmation printout. Arrive early at the test center to avoid stress. Stay calm, read each question carefully, and pace yourself to complete all 150 questions within the given time.

    Common Pitfalls to Avoid

Many applicants face delays because they rush through document submission. Always double-check the quality and validity of your uploaded papers. Make sure your name appears exactly the same on your documents and on your Prometric booking.

Do not attempt to book the exam before receiving DHA eligibility approval. You won’t be able to proceed without the eligibility ID.

Another common mistake is ignoring the exam format and time limits during preparation. Candidates who skip practice tests often struggle with time management.

Lastly, do not forget to bring your passport and printed confirmation on exam day. Missing these may block your entry.

    Post-Exam Steps

After finishing the exam, your result will appear on your Sheryan portal within 2 to 10 working days. If you pass, DHA will issue an eligibility letter. This letter remains valid for one year. You must then complete the final steps to activate your DHA professional license. This includes paying the licensing fee and uploading any pending documents. If you fail, DHA allows up to three retakes per year. Prepare again and rebook carefully.
