    Types of Norway Visas

    Norway offers two types of visas for different visitors. Apply for your visa according to your travel purpose.

    • Visitor visa: Allows a stay for up to 90 days over a period of 180 days.
    • Resident permit: For stays longer than 90 days or for the purpose of work.

    Norway Visitor Visa

    Indians planning their trip to Norway for the purpose of tourism or short stays for up to 90 days and require only single entry should apply for a Schengen Type C visa for a  visitor visa.

    Residence Permit

    Indians who plan to stay in Norway for more than 180 days or work here, even if for less than 90 days, should apply for a Residence Permit.

    Visitors planning a family immigration or to study in Norway can also apply for a Residence Permit.

    Visitor Visa or Residence Permit: Which one to get?

    Indians who are planning to stay in Norway for upto 90 days should apply for a Norway Visitor visa. However, if the stay exceeds 90 days or you are visiting for the purpose of work, you should apply for a Residence Permit.

    How to apply for your Norway visitor visa?

    All the visa applications for Norway are processed by VFS Global in India. Here’s how you can apply for your visitor visa to Norway:

    • Go to the official UDI Norway website.
    • Go to the ‘Want to apply’ option.
    • Choose ‘Visits and Holidays’ and then ‘the Visitor visa for Norway’ option.
    • Locate the ‘How to apply’ option for tourism and put your country of origin.
    • Choose the ‘Go to the application form option’ and fill out the online application form after logging in.
    • Once you have filled out the application form, pay the visa application fee.
    • Take a printout of the visa application form and visit your nearest VFS center after booking an appointment to submit your application and biometrics.
    • Sit back and wait for your Norway visa to be processed.
