Everybody deserves a clean and healthy place to work. Expecting your workers to work in anything less is just unfair. With a happy, healthy workforce, your business will bloom, whereas with an unhealthy one, your workers will be unhappy, ill, and far from loyal to your business needs.
Of course, to address any problems your business may have, you will need to know what they are first.
#1 Air conditioning
Although it is a good idea to let your employees have access to fresh air, there are advantages to keeping your business environment at a constant temperature for your employees to work in. Too warm can have them falling asleep or becoming muggy-headed, hot and flustered, or easily irritable. Too cold can lower production rates and employee morale.
Upkeep
However, once you have installed an air conditioning system and set it to the right temperature, you are still going to have to have it maintained and serviced throughout the year, every year. Air conditioning units do not bring air in from the outside but filter and recirculate from inside your business. Due to this, you will understand that they are a breeding ground for harmful bacteria, which will need to be cleaned out regularly to keep your system pumping around good, healthy, clean air for your workers to breathe in. If you do not look after your system in this way, your employees will start to suffer from respiratory issues and illness, which, if left untreated, could become serious.
#2 Reducing pest magnets
Every business has pest magnets within its boundaries. Pests come in all shapes and sizes, and not all have wings or fur, or scales. In order for you to make sure that your business does not become an easy target, you are probably going to have to put some effort into dealing with key areas.
Deal with recycling
Most businesses have an area within their grounds where recycling is left to either be collected or taken to the nearest recycling center. These areas usually look neglected as cardboard and recyclable packaging are thrown in rather than placed in an orderly fashion. This provides great hiding places for pests to seek shelter and warmth and yet could be dealt with quickly and easily with the addition of a baler.
Balers use special wire to compact this waste and are supplied by companies like Baling Wire Direct. This holds unwanted recycling, such as cardboard, in tightly bundled packages making it far easier to store. Condensing it so that more recycling can fit in the area will be a bonus to your business while eliminating the chance of pests finding shelter.
Supply lidded trash cans
Ensure that you have lidded trash cans around your site. Although trash cans themselves tend to be an invitation to pests to come and find their dinner, the idea of not having any at all should not enter your mind. There are a lot of employees that take little pride in their working environment, and they are likely to drop litter where they stand, especially if there aren’t any trash cans around for them to use. This can invite more pests, such as insects, birds, and furry animals, to come looking, find food, and then move in.
