Learning the English alphabet is undeniably one of the first biggest hurdles that your kid will face in life.  However, it happens to be the most essential in shaping the future of your child.  After all, grasping the alphabet serves as a good starting stone to better reading and writing once children start school.

That’s why parents have a vital role in helping their children learn the ABC alphabet before it is too late.  But how can you tell if your little one is more than ready to learn the alphabet? Here are three signs to watch out for before you decide on anything.

. Pretend to Read or Write

Kids must be interested in learning before they even put the effort to start doing it. Make it the norm to keep a close eye on how your child behaves when around books or other reading materials.  Does your child pretend to read or write? If YES, that’s the first clearest sign you should start teaching him the alphabet.

Of course, this is a behavior you may never notice if you spend little time with your child. Make it the norm to spend ample time with your kid, especially during playing time. The more time your spend with your loved one, the easy for you to notice these signs.

    . Check Your Kid’s Curiosity

As children grow, they’ll always have a natural curiosity for different things in life. Use this as the perfect opportunity to help your child understand that reading is the basis of understanding everything they want. Remember, learning to read the alphabet is a process that takes time, and parents must be more than ready to offer a helping hand.

    . Help with the Alphabet

There’s no way your child will learn the alphabet if you do not offer the support they need. Rather than waiting for too long, find ways to motivate your little one to develop an interest in books and reading. You don’t have to go overboard for things to work in your favor since learning should be fun and enjoyable.

For your child to get good at the English alphabet, you can play ABC games together whenever you’re free. Alternatively, invest in different materials designed to help preschoolers master letters. That’s where worksheets come in handy as they offer the perfect opportunity for your child to learn the alphabet while having fun.

Do not make the mistake of teaching your child using letter t worksheets, yet you’ve skipped other letters above. Parents who do this only complicate the situation even further.  In short, handle every letter at a time and start from the first to the last.

    Final Thoughts

Learning the English alphabet earlier on gives your kid a growing advantage over their peers. Better, it helps improve basic speech and communication skills. Watch out for these and other signs, after which you can start teaching your child the alphabet. It is then that they can learn their ABCs successfully before starting school.
