Finding a job has really taken on new forms, with technology such as apps and social media changing the landscape. Regardless of which, getting your dream career is now easier than ever.

The first thing to do though, is to polish your resume and make it current. Fortunately, you can call on resume builders so you can put your best foot forward.

Here are several methods on how to find a job online.

    Reach Out on Social Media

One of the quickest and most convenient ways to land a job is to search in the comfort of your own home. Thanks to technology, you can now present yourself and check social media posts and feeds for opportunities.

There are several social media platforms you can try, including LinkedIn, Facebook and others. It would help to create a separate profile and one that’s more professional.

Aside from actively searching you can also keep up with the latest recruitment news or network with peers and those in your industry. Keep up appearances, and chances are that there will be an opening, or an acquaintance will come to you with a job proposal.

Check Job Search Apps and Platforms

Job search websites have been around quite a while, and now they’ve introduced apps so you can hunt on your mobile phone.

You’re better off starting on the most popular job search sites as there would likely be more results. Then, you can drill down to try and get the one you want.

For this method it’s best to have a resume and CV letter handy so you can respond in a timely manner. The good news is that there’s a lot of apps out there and plenty of new listings every day.

    Ask Acquaintances and Peers

Networking is also a classic approach, and one that’s very effective. Chances are, somebody will know someone who’s working at a company, and they have a vacant position you can try to fill in.

This is the best time to catch up with your contacts and see what they’re up to, or which company they’re working for. It’s worthy to note that some businesses exclusively hire via referrals and not through advertising means. You’ll have a chance to get in a desirable position without having to compete with dozens of other applicants.

You can reach out using technology, e.g., social media, online or by inviting them over a Zoom or Skype call. Even if they don’t have an open position you’ll still have made a vital connection that can prove to be invaluable later on.

    Try and Try Again

Finding a job isn’t usually done in one day. Persistence is the key, especially if you want a particular career in a specific industry.

Keep refreshing those pages at LinkedIn, and check in every now and then on job search platforms. Take every opportunity to network and meet new people even if they’re from another line of work or business. Eventually, you’ll get a chance to present yourself- just be ready and put your best foot forward.
