Nowadays, young people have embraced the trend of having their teeth looking perfectly fine. There are many dental treatments that help with any dental problem you may have, whether it’s a missing tooth, teeth whitening, a new smile design, and more. Procedures such as teeth whitening, dentures, and dental veneers are well-known for restoring your teeth to any problem you may have.

A well-known dental procedure is the use of braces; in theory, they correct the alignment of teeth, correct the bite, and close the spaces between teeth. For now, we’ll focus on this last treatment and everything you need to know. You can contact Dentakay today, a dental clinic in Turkey that can help you if you have any further questions after reading this article.

    Orthodontics Today

Orthodontics is responsible for achieving perfect alignment of the teeth, and also in the jaw, both upper and lower, so that there is no space between any teeth so that when the patient can feel the clash of both sets of teeth, they do not feel the discomfort of separated or misaligned teeth.

It’s worth noting that this dental procedure is not surgical; the dentist uses braces to place them on the patient’s teeth, which then move them to the correct location, leaving them perfectly aligned.

There are 2 types of orthodontic treatments, including:

    • Removable braces: This type of treatment is based on the molding it can give to the patient’s teeth. This means the patient only needs to wear them for 20 to 22 hours a day. This process can take a long time, as most patients do not follow the dentist’s instructions, making the teeth alignment process even more time-consuming. One of the advantages of these removable braces is that they can be removed during meals, allowing the patient to thoroughly clean their teeth and then replace them.
    • Fixed braces: This dental treatment is the antithesis of removable braces, as once installed, they cannot be removed until the procedure is completed and the teeth are perfectly aligned. The patient must attend monthly appointments with the dentist, who will make any necessary adjustments to the braces at each visit. Among the advantages of this treatment is its relatively short duration, as the patient does not need to remove them.

    The most common braces are:

    • Metal braces: These braces are the most familiar to patients and generally the most common. Removable braces are placed on the front of the teeth and move and align the teeth. This brace option is always the most appropriate and suitable for all children, as they are not disciplined enough for removable braces.
    • Lingual braces: These braces are also fixed, but with the difference that they are placed on the back of the teeth, and their application process is also much faster than that of removable braces.

What are the benefits of orthodontics?

    – Helps align teeth.

    – Help the patient when eating, that is, so that he or she can chew properly.

    – Improves people’s speech thanks to the alignment of their teeth.

    – Ease of oral care.

    Duration of Dental Orthodontics

The duration of this treatment does not have a set date; everything depends on the degree of damage to the patient’s teeth. Before starting orthodontic treatment, the dentist will verify whether the patient has any oral diseases, whether they need a deep cleaning, root canal treatment, or tooth extraction to improve their teeth. Orthodontic treatment can begin afterward. Some patients last 6 months with orthodontics, while others can last 3 to 5 years, depending on the severity of the damage to their teeth.

Finally, a dentist’s evaluation is essential when deciding to have braces fitted; this will help ensure the process is as seamless as possible.

If you want to talk to a dentist about this treatment, we recommend researching and seeking opinions from these doctors, as well as from the dental clinic itself. This clinic should be reputable; remember, you shouldn’t trust your teeth with just anyone. At our Dentakay dental clinic, we can help you. We have the best experts who will give you the best recommendations, and the first appointment is free. Contact us today and give your smile a new shine.
