It doesn’t matter how big or small your budget is, when your budget has been reached, the spending has got to stop. It’s nice to have everything you want at an event, with a big stand and your stand is all singing and all dancing, but are there ways to cut the cost and save part of your marketing budget?

Choosing your stand space is step one, as before you’ve confirmed the size of your stand you’re not able to start the planning of your stand design. Whilst big, 4 open side stands are attractive, that doesn’t mean a 3m x 3m space can’t create a massive impact. The difference in value will be significant, so taking a smaller space over the larger spaces will be a big money saver.

Hiring exhibition stands with an installation team takes all the pressure out of transporting and assembling your own display stand, but at what cost? Hiring a stand is a one time use, so effectively you’re spending all this money for one event, and you won’t get to use the stand again. It’s worth planning a head and purchasing an exhibition stand that can be adjusted for all stand sizes and shapes. Even if to begin with this is more expensive, when you attend more events, you’ll see the benefit and the budget that would have gone to hiring a stand can be used elsewhere.

What does your stand need and what do you want? These are 2 different things and can make a difference on the overall spend. Consider what the stand needs, rather than the wants when looking to cut costs. Making sure to include the important accessories that need to be there or smaller pieces which would be nice to have rather than a must have.

If you’re traveling to and from the event, can you make the journey on the day or are hotels a necessity? Where possible, reducing the amount of hotel stays would be beneficial, especially when a few members of staff are attending the event. Hundreds of pounds can be dwindled away on transport and hotel bookings alone, so pre planning journey options ahead of time is worthwhile.

There are many ways to cut down costs, it’s about being smart with the budget and putting the money towards the most useful stand attributes.
